Long Day Care

Our Long Day Care provides a Montessori prepared environment for children (2 – 6 years) on a 2, 3, 4 or 5 day basis.

This allows working parents to confidently entrust their children to receive high quality holistic care. Each child is gently guided through the Montessori curriculum at their own developmental level and pace. The Long Day Care Centre offers access to the same curriculum as the preschool. Staff are qualified child care workers with additional Montessori training.

In the Long Day Care we provide care for children aged between 2-6 years old. Here the children are provided with the opportunity to work in a mixed age group, allowing for leadership, peer work and independent ownership of their learning.

In the Long Day Care we provide care for children aged between 2-6 years old. Here the children are provided with the opportunity to work in a mixed age group, allowing for leadership, peer work and independent ownership of their learning.

The children are provided with the opportunity to engage with the Montessori materials, set out on shelves and ordered in subject, during the day. Each child’s learning is catered for on an individual basis, ensuring progression through the curriculum and a depth of, as they work their way through the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Gardening, Art, Practical Life activities, Physical Education, Geography, Culture and Music.

In the Practical Life area, children have the opportunity to prepare and make their own snacks and to eat when they are hungry, rather than at set times. This allows for their independence and self-confidence.

Children are provided with the opportunity to rest and sleep during the day, according to their own individual needs.

Children have the opportunity to visit the school’s library, visiting for story time and borrowing books to read at home with their families.

We utilize the sports hall in the school once a week to play group games, participate in running activities, ball skills and enjoy engaging with friends.

In the afternoons, we provide craft activities, cooking and serving, for the children to participate in of their own choice, strengthening their creativity, independence and concentration as they work in small groups, with an adult.

In the Long Day Care and through the Montessori philosophy, children learn to be respectful of others, respectful of their environment and enjoy freedom of choice in their own learning.

We are open between the hours of 8-6, Monday to Friday to cater for the busy family, as well as providing high quality learning and educational development for every child in their quest for life long learning.
